Advice for new riders at a track day or the dumbest bike thing you’ve ever done: I'd love to say the dumbest thing I've ever done has nothing to do with motorcycles, but I can't. However, that is a story for another time. As far as advice, I recommend that students use every bit of will power to focus on the specifics of each drill as they practice. Looking back, I know that I could have progressed more quickly if I had focused on the individual skills as they were learned. Not even the best rider in the world progresses without practice, focus on each element of speed, and with logical and planned incremental improvements on a strategic attack of the race course. A more specific example would be the progressively moving a brake marker further into the corner to determine exactly where to begin and end braking for each and every corner on the race track. If you are logical and strategic in your approach to getting around the race track you will go to your personal limits with confidence and far faster than simply riding by "feel."
