Best advice I would give someone for track days: Grab hold of an instructor! I learned more in 6 laps behind a good instructor than in over a decade of street riding. Oh....and get your butt off the seat. That was the hardest thing for someone to teach me and it made a huge difference in my riding.

Lowlights: Stuck throttle while in 3rd place into Turn 1 off the start in the rain February 2000 (sliding down track while still holding onto bike offers a unique perspective of track and approaching racers) and a rude introduction to a nameless AFM rider as he collected me at the entrance of Turn 2, 8 minutes later...

Best Advice for a track day: Same advice for a racing practice session, have a plan, have something to work on and most importantly, have fun and be safe!
Lamest move on a bike: When I was in law school I would ride PCH to my clerking job in Santa Monica. The light at PCH and Topanga Canyon was really long so I got into the bad habit of putting the kickstand down and sitting with my feet on the pegs waiting for the light to change. Did this one day and, you guessed it, forgot to put the kickstand down. I caught the bike at about 45 degrees of lean angle, but seeing as it was a GPZ 1100 and weighed close to 600 lbs we had a gentle but humiliating environmental impact. Thank God for full face helmets!

Best advice I would give someone for track days: Don¹t worry about speed, it will come in due time. Absorb everything you can from the entire day's experience. There will be no prize money or trophies at the end of this track day, just great experiences and a bonding between new friends and most important, becoming one with your bike.

Best advice I would give for a track day: Leave your egos and stopwatches at home. Enrich your experience by gathering knowledge from fellow racers, weekend warriors, or just enthusiasts. We all have something to share. Take some time out in your hectic life to smell the roses...even at 140mph.

Best advice: To rider experiencing 1st track day: Come prepared for the high temperatures with shade & chairs, leave your ego at
home, stay relaxed when on the track, ask an instructor for help and drink plenty of fluids to help maintain your level of concentration all day! Moreover, have a plan or a goal of what you want to specifically practice on at this track day. Don¹t hesitate to ask for help or better yet, request a video session if you¹re not meeting those goals! A video of you riding, in the hands of an experienced instructor is an invaluable tool. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the day!
